چکیده

A simple propagation model for the VHF and UHF bands is presented. The model is a computational form of the data provided by the FCC F(50,50) propagation curves, and it is aimed to be used by practicing engineers. It allows the estimation of median path loss, received power, or electrical field strength which usually is sufficient in many practical applications. The model is independent of frequency and is applicable to outdoor environments in a range of distances from about 0.5 mi (800 m) up to 40 mi (64.36 km) and transmitting antenna heights from 100 ft (30.48 m) up to 2000 ft (609.6 m), and is based on a receiving antenna height of 30 ft (9 m).

Consideration of Interference Analysis for Wireless Systems in VHF/UHF Bands with Geographic Information

With the help of Rec. ITU-R P.1546 and geography information system, the interference analysis for the fixed wireless system and radar is presented based upon the frequencydistance rules with minimum coupling loss. To obtain the computational results, real geography information on the map was taken for the given area of 80x60[km] 2 , and field strength and path profile were illustrated for rada...

Measurements and Modeling of Path Loss over Irregular Terrain for Near-Ground and Short-Range Communications

In this paper, radio wave propagation over irregular terrain is investigated in 200–600MHz (VHF/UHF band). Measured results are compared with different path loss models such as Fresnel knife edge diffraction and uniform theory of diffraction (UTD). It is shown that, for low antenna heights, using a combination of the two-ray path loss model and knife-edge diffraction, great improvement in path ...

HF , VHF , and UHF Systems and Technology

A wide variety of unique systems and components inhabits the HF, VHF, and UHF bands. Many communication systems (ionospheric, meteor-burst, and troposcatter) provide beyond-line-of-sight coverage and operate independently of external infrastructure. Broadcasting and over-the-horizon radar also operate in these bands. Magnetic-resonance imaging uses HF/VHF signals to see the interior of a human ...

VHF/UHF/Microwave Radio Propagation: A Primer for Digital Experimenters

This paper attempts to provide some insight into the nature of radio propagation in that part of the spectrum (upper VHF to microwave) used by experimenters for high-speed digital transmission. It begins with the basics of free space path loss calculations, and then considers the effects of refraction, diffraction and reflections on the path loss of Line of Sight (LOS) links. The nature of non-...
